PyroMania was founded on a simple idea: a fire feature should be more than just a source of warmth—it should be a work of design, engineering, and craftsmanship.

Our founder, John Lotridge, has been designing and engineering architectural products since 1994. His journey into fire features began in 2011 when a client commissioned him to build a gas fire pit carved from a 6,000-pound granite boulder. That project sparked an obsession with pushing the boundaries of what a fire feature could be. From that moment on, John set out to design fire pits that combine advanced burner technology, architectural beauty, and uncompromising safety.

Over the years, John designed and engineered fire pit components, systems and OEM features for leading companies in the industry. But he wanted to go further—to create a brand where he could control every detail of the design and engineering process. That vision led to the creation of PyroMania in early 2019, a line of fire features and burner systems developed with the goal of building the safest and most advanced fire pit burners in the world.

A lifelong admirer of Mid-Century Modern design, John draws inspiration from the clean lines, bold forms, and timeless aesthetics of that iconic design era. Living and working in Southern California also provides an endless source of creative inspiration. Many PyroMania designs reflect the shapes, textures, and environments found throughout the state—from the organic lines of a natural Monterey cypress stump (Root), to the industrial shape of the concrete lined river running through Pasadena (Arroyo), to the smooth, sculptural curves of a spa bath in Palm Springs (Oasis).

Today, John continues to lead the design and manufacturing process for every PyroMania fire feature. But his favorite work still happens in the workshop, where he personally builds custom fire features for clients who want something truly unique.
